Point Richmond Art Collective is a wonderful group of local artists who love to create, share and sell their work. Our membership includes painters, jewelers, sculptors, metalworkers, photographers, and a fine art picture framer. The collective is continually changing and expanding. Artists in a wide variety of mediums, including ceramists, textile artists, glass blowers and woodworkers, are encouraged to apply for membership.

 

A Special Opportunity

 

We have an opportunity to enlarge our gallery, lower individual member costs and attract even more customers, if we expand our collective to at least 30 artists. Room adjacent to our present gallery is presently available. It comes with outstanding, well-lit open display areas, well suited to accommodate more artists. At this membership level we can reduce both the monthly fee and keep the gallery open seven days a week and later in the evening.

How to Become an Artist Member

When we receive your completed application you will be scheduled to meet with the Membership Committee. The committee will evaluate your application using guidelines shown below and answer any questions you might have about the Gallery.

Membership Selection Guidelines

  1. Quality and originality of work.
  2. Presentation quality.
  3. Potential marketability of work.
  4. Uniqueness of work with respect to other Artist Members.
  5. Sufficient quantity of high caliber work.
  6. Personal compatibility and ability to work with other Artist Members.
  7. Applicant demonstrates an understanding of the Collective requirements, financial responsibility, and commitment to a full and active membership.
Artist Members are responsible for

  1. $50 Application Fee.
  2. $125 Membership Fee, one-time, upon acceptance of application by the membership committee.
  3. Monthly share of rent, utilities and other overhead.  Amount depends on space leased and the number of Artist Members. Currently:  $125 per month. Note: There are no plans to pay gallery or collective staff salaries out of Artist Members' monthly fees.
  4. Several half-day shifts each month; depends on the number of Artist Members.
  5. Committee work to promote or maintain the Gallery.  Estimate 6-8 hours per month.
  6. Attendance at regular meetings.
  7. Displaying fresh, current and high quality work in the Gallery.
  8. Working well with other Artist Members.

Responsibility of the Collective

  1. Promote and encourage sales of Artist Members' work.
  2. Prompt return of 85% of the sale price of Artist Members' work sold by the Gallery.
  3. Feature an Artist Member in a solo or group show at least once every one or two years.
