Artist's StatementPhotography has been a part of my life since I was five. My father entered me in a photography club and contest through Chevron. We spent hours at the Oakland Zoo taking the funniest shots you have ever seen. It must have appealed to me because I’ve been hooked ever since.
My artistic ability really re-emerged after Hurricane Katrina. I lived in Diamondhead Mississippi, ground zero for the eye of the storm. The town just south of us sustained over 90% destruction. With so much of my world obliterated, I needed to find beauty anywhere I could. My search evolved and soon I found “what I wanted to be when I grew up”. Five years later here I am, loving what I do. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!
In our world we are often presented with two options, Laugh or Cry. I picked laugh. I hope my work brings beauty, joy and happiness to your life. It has to mine.
